Doing the work — following the guide's one instruction to build
One line in the guide tells you to build something real. This lesson follows it step by step and shows which objective each step answers

Section 7 of the guide has six steps. Five are reading or practice. One tells you to build something real.
"Build real workflows: configure a Project with instructions and knowledge sources, and evaluate outputs for accuracy and bias"
This lesson follows that sentence step by step, and names the objective each step answers.
Why reading alone will not do it
Section 4 puts this first among the recommended experience
"Regular, hands-on experience using Claude in a professional setting"
and describes the minimally qualified candidate as someone who
"can independently complete common productivity and workflow tasks on the platform"
"Independently complete" is not measured by reading. An item that hands you a situation and asks what to do next is far easier when you have been in that situation yourself.
Step one — pick real, repeating work
Choose something you already do at least weekly. Not an invented example.

It has to repeat, because step five is where you come back and adjust, and that needs a second run to adjust.
Step two — set up a Project with system-level instructions
This is two of domain 5's objectives.
"Configure Claude Projects with instructions and knowledge sources"
"Create effective system-level instructions"
Write instructions that apply to every task in that Project, not to one piece of work. If what you have written feels like it belongs in a prompt, it is not yet a system-level instruction.
Step three — add knowledge sources, then take some away
Add the documents the work genuinely needs. Then remove them one at a time and see whether the output gets worse.
Anything you can remove without the output changing should not have been there. The objective's verb is manage, not upload, and taking things out is part of managing.
Step four — evaluate the way domain 2 describes
The second half of the guide's sentence is "evaluate outputs for accuracy and bias".

The counting matters, because next round it is the only way to know whether it improved or merely felt like it did.
Step five — come back, change it, write down what changed
This is domain 7's objective
"Adjust approach based on feedback and results"
and domain 5's
"Inform, maintain, and update Claude configurations, knowledge sources, and instructions"
This is the step people skip, and it is the only one that reveals whether the system-level instruction you wrote at the start actually works or merely reads well.

Four of the seven domains, 63% of the exam between them — out of one real piece of work.
What this does not prove
These five steps are not in the guide in this form. The guide gives one sentence; breaking it into five steps and mapping them back to domains is this lesson's arrangement.
And doing all five does not mean you will pass. The guide says itself that no resource guarantees a result.
