Registering, exam day, and the rules in the room

Six registration steps, four rules during the exam, and the twenty-four-hour deadline that costs you the whole fee if you miss it

None of this is exam content. All of it costs money or eligibility if you get it wrong. Every item here comes from Sections 10 to 12 of the guide.

The six registration steps

Section 10 lists them. In summary

  1  go to the certification page on the Anthropic Partner Academy
  2  download the guide, read the terms and the exam policy first
  3  register and pay; the price shown includes any discount
  4  follow the confirmation to create a Pearson VUE account
  5  choose a date, and online proctoring or a test centre
  6  cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before the appointment

Step six is the one to remember. The guide is blunt about it.

"Changes made within 24 hours forfeit the exam fee."

Your ID has to match your registration

Section 11 requires a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID, and

"The name on your ID must match the name on your registration exactly."

A mismatch has to be fixed before you book, not on the day. The guide directs you to [email protected] beforehand.

Accommodations must be approved before booking

"Accommodations must be requested and approved by Pearson VUE before you schedule your exam. Do not schedule your appointment until your request has been approved."

The second sentence is an instruction, not advice. Booking first and requesting after is the wrong order.

The four rules during the exam

Section 12 states that during the exam you must

"Remain within view of the proctor and webcam for the entire session, if testing online"

"Keep your workspace clear of notes, books, phones, secondary monitors, and other materials"

"Refrain from communicating with any other person during the exam"

"Not capture, copy, photograph, or reproduce any exam content in any form"

The second rules out a second monitor, which many working setups have without anyone thinking about it. The fourth is the same rule the first lesson of this course is built on.

Not turning up, or turning up late

"Candidates who fail to appear for a scheduled exam, or who arrive after the permitted late-arrival window, forfeit the exam fee and must re-register."

The guide does not say how wide the late-arrival window is, so no number can be given here. Go by what Pearson VUE states in the confirmation.

The agreement you accept before the first item

Section 13 says a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement comes before the exam begins, and

"If you do not accept the agreement, the exam session ends and no refund is issued."

Declining ends it, with no refund. It is not a real option.

When it lies

"You can always move the date." Up to 24 hours before. After that the whole fee is gone.

"Testing at home is more relaxed." Easier to get to, yes. The rules about staying in view of the webcam and keeping the desk clear apply to online testing in full.

"Accommodations can be arranged later." The guide tells you not to book until the request is approved.
